As a landscape painter I like to represent the Scottish landscape in an honest and considered way. My preferred medium is to work in oil on canvas emphasising my proclivity towards traditional techniques and strong methodology. I love to explore the more remote and unknown mountains and glens of the west highlands and as these places are often inclement and unpredictable I work from small sketchbook drawings and photography. When I have an image I am happy with and would like to paint I prefer to rely mostly on my recollection to help me to recreate in the studio the feeling and mood of the places I have visited.
